Last to Leave the Mansion Keeps It: How MrBeast's Self-Declared "Too Easy" Challengers Held Up

Open on YouTube ↗
Overview

MrBeast (Jimmy) built this challenge around one claim. Fifteen contestants entered a seven-bedroom mansion that he calls a "million dollar" house. Whoever left last would keep it. He says he chose every contestant because each had said publicly that his videos were extremely easy and that they would win for sure if they were ever in one. The video follows the group for 119 days. Along the way it tests that claim with recreations of earlier MrBeast challenges, and it ends with MrBeast entering the competition himself.

The Setup

The rules were simple. Whoever left last kept the house, and stepping on a red line at the door meant elimination. The mansion had three game rooms, a movie theater, a library and a gym, and MrBeast said that wasn't all of it. The contestants were confident from the start. One asked how they could be expected to go back to an apartment after living there. Others said they had no reason ever to leave.

That first night they claimed bedrooms on a first-come basis. One contestant predicted things would soon "get slimy." The prediction came true almost at once. The TVs were a favorite, so Chaise snuck off and hid the remotes, and someone threw one where it couldn't be reached. Another contestant guessed that whoever had done it was smart, because many people would drop once the TVs went off.

Day 2: Chaise's Meltdown and the First Exit

By the first morning, homesickness had set in. Chaise said they missed their mom and had not realized how much their home routine mattered. MrBeast then played a clip of Chaise mocking past contestants who missed their wives, kids or birthdays. He noted that every contestant in the video had posted something similar, such as calling MrBeast contestants "soft" or promising to stay "even if it's three years."

Rather than leave, Chaise took it out on the house, smashing things to the point that the narration calls Day 2 "straight chaos." By 10 a.m. one contestant was already thinking about quitting. MrBeast visited and played that contestant's old video, which said nothing angered them more than MrBeast contestants who leave after one day because they miss their dog. The contestant explained that they had realized people might be there a whole year and they weren't willing to do that. MrBeast asked them to admit the challenges weren't easy. They refused, said the challenges were "still pretty easy," and left.

The destruction escalated. Chaise had once said everyone would be "going off the walls" by Day 7 or 10, and admitted to kicking doors down on Day 2 instead. A war broke out between contestants. A mattress was damaged, rooms were wrecked, and Chaise ended up sleeping on the couch. Kweli then snuck into Chaise's new room and trashed it. Chaise didn't know who had done it and responded by pouring ranch dressing on the carpet in other people's rooms. MrBeast said everything in him wanted to step in. He chose not to, because the contestants had said his videos were too easy.

When he toured the damage, he found a broken-off door, barbecue sauce covering the stairs, and a contestant whose bed had been thrown off the balcony. He concluded these might be "the most deranged contestants we've ever had." Contestants were still talking about staying for years, and he worried there would be no house left.

Cleanup and the Remote

Kevin said they couldn't stand living in a dirty home and began cleaning. Others joined in. MrBeast thought the shared work brought the group together and made Chaise want to make amends. Chaise then built a contraption to retrieve the last TV remote from where it had been stuck. After a long, tense effort it worked, and the house watched TV together peacefully for hours.

Day 5: Three Haters Gone

The peace didn't stop the homesickness. On Day 5 one contestant said they missed their cat. MrBeast played their old clip mocking a contestant who would give up a million-dollar prize to go home and feed a cat named Cuddles. The contestant pretended to change their mind, then left anyway. A second contestant followed. Then Chaise said they wanted to go home to their mom. MrBeast played Chaise's clip boasting they would stay on a yacht for 200 days rather than 100. Chaise conceded the challenge was harder than expected. Chaise refused to apologize to the contestants they had mocked, then left. MrBeast noted that three of his "biggest haters" were gone by Day 5.

Chaise's exit didn't calm the house. Over the next few days contestants piled books onto the basketball court, made a mess in the kitchen that took hours to clean, and broke windows. Some decided that too many people loved the gym, so they wrecked the gym equipment to push those people out. One contestant noted that they were devaluing the mansion they were competing for. Another said: "I take it back. It's not easy."

Day 10: Chicken Nuggets and Handcuffs

On Day 10 MrBeast tested a rumor that someone would leave for Chick-fil-A. Ruben agreed to step out for a 30-count nugget meal. MrBeast framed it as giving up a million-dollar house for a ten-dollar meal. He then played Ruben's clip calling his challenges "a little too easy" and mocking a contestant who missed their family on Day 4.

MrBeast then announced the first recreated challenge, based on his "Chained to Your Ex" video. Contestants had to pair up and be handcuffed together for an undisclosed time, which he said could be a day or a year. Removing the cuffs meant elimination. The chains immediately complicated everything, especially the bathroom. One pair cut a hole in a door, and at one point people ended up chained four ways. Some partnerships strained quickly.

After a single day, several contestants packed up. One said on camera: "Your challenges are hard." MrBeast played Alec's clip and then let others go, including Jay. That left Pierce, Uthy, Mark, Kevin, Asher, Aaron, Kweli and Ryan.

Alliances and Friction

The chained pairs developed very differently. Ryan and Kweli became close. Kweli explained that their dad had been fired in the past year, that most of any winnings would go to their parents, and that they hoped to retire their dad and repair the relationship. Ryan said that after hearing this story, their goal became helping Kweli win.

Aaron, by contrast, could not bond with Asher. Asher told Aaron, "You're wrong, but I understand it." Asher said they didn't really care about people back home and called the mansion "my house." Aaron was concerned that Asher showed no emotional connection to anyone, while acknowledging Asher was "very smart." Aaron said they wanted to eliminate Asher. Another contestant predicted that Asher's certainty about everything would keep them from seeing it coming.

Day 21: The TVs Go, and So Do Two More

By Day 19 boredom had people writing "MrBeast" across the walls. Kevin, Mark and Uthy noticed how much time the others spent watching TV. They reasoned that boredom would trigger a "domino effect" of exits. On Day 21 Uthy smashed both TVs.

That night MrBeast arrived with an iPad and footage showing that someone had fully stepped out. The contestant missing from later rosters is Aaron, leaving seven. One remaining player was openly glad, saying, "It's a competition."

Soon after, Mark asked to leave. MrBeast played Mark's clip calling a contestant "stupid" for missing a wife and a child's graduation, and told Mark that they had called those contestants dumb. Mark admitted it and left. One remaining contestant said MrBeast had picked people who were "all bark and no bite." Ryan, roughly twenty days into being chained to Kweli and rooming with Kweli and Pierce, said it had only made them stronger. Without TV, the group invented games, which MrBeast summed up as men becoming "cavemen."

Day 40–65: The Bunker Scanner

On Day 40 the handcuffs came off. The next game recreated his bunker video. When an alarm sounded, everyone had one minute to activate a hand scanner or be eliminated. Contestants took it seriously, and some started sleeping right next to the scanners. MrBeast scheduled alarms at what he considered the worst possible times, including first thing in the morning and during showers. Everyone kept making it, and the contestants taunted him with "too easy" and "do better."

On Day 50 he cut the timer to thirty seconds and gave them a Feastables vending machine. One player called the shorter timer a "harsh reality check" and moved all their belongings into the library to stay close. MrBeast said the challenge unified the house, but one contestant still did not fit in.

Asher called themselves "the biggest challenger." Their reasoning was that they had "the least amount of life outside of here." They annoyed others with habits like loud slurping. Then Asher emptied all the food from the fridges, pantries and freezers and even removed the cookware, so nobody could eat. Asher said it was now "Asher versus the house."

Day 65: Isolation in Pairs

MrBeast said he had planned to wait until Day 70. Because Asher had taken the video "to a place it wasn't supposed to go," he moved the next phase up to Day 65. It recreated his video in which two people were trapped together for 100 days. Contestants picked partners and were isolated in rooms with limited food: rice, oats and beef.

Nobody wanted to pair with Asher. Asher called that fair and "completely valid." Ryan volunteered. The pairs became Kweli and Pierce, Kevin and Uthy, and Ryan and Asher. Some had smuggled books and Feastables in backpacks, and one pair declared the challenge too easy again. Meanwhile, MrBeast announced the house would be fully restored while they were confined. He credited Lowe's with the renovation.

Isolation wore them down within days. Contestants read, exercised and played games, including on a homemade basketball hoop. They complained that being stuck was "just waiting," that eating the same food daily was miserable, and that life moved painfully slowly. One said the experience teaches you to be humble when you go from having everything to nothing. One contestant marked the day they were officially graduating high school, having missed the ceremony. After a week, MrBeast observed they were starting to "go crazy." He said that made sense, since he had started to lose it during his own seven days in solitary confinement.

Ryan Counts to 100,000

To fight the boredom, Ryan decided to count to 100,000, as MrBeast did in the video he calls his first viral one, the one that "basically started this whole channel." MrBeast said people had told him for years that it was stupid and easy. He framed Ryan's attempt as a test of that claim.

Ryan stumbled early and lost track of numbers. During a visit to check on the renovation, MrBeast found Ryan around 29,000. Ryan said it was "way harder" than expected. MrBeast responded that Ryan had "all my respect." He said the footage would be reviewed for skipped numbers and promised something special if Ryan finished. At 50,000 MrBeast told Ryan they were halfway. He added that in his experience the first half is much easier than the second.

Later Ryan said they didn't know where they were, their mouth hurt, and they were starting to "see numbers." MrBeast said that for a long time he had felt like the only person who knew how hard it was to count to 100,000. He found it nice that someone else would finally understand. Near the end, Kweli listened through the wall and called out encouragement. Ryan finished, and the whole house celebrated. MrBeast's takeaway was that setting your mind to something can lift up the people around you.

Day 80–90: Asher's Ego and Apology

Asher was not impressed and insisted Ryan's challenge was actually easy. Asher kept irritating others, for example by saying they had already "budgeted 15K for a motorcycle" from the million. Ryan said their sole mission was not to get out before Asher, to improve Kweli's chances.

Asher eventually overheard how others talked about them. One housemate said Asher was smart but that their ego undercut their intelligence, and that at 18 Asher had "just started." Asher reflected that they had been homeschooled most of their life and that this environment was a lesson in social norms. They admitted they had been treating everything as a challenge and hoped to grow emotionally. Asher formally apologized for throwing out the food, saying they hadn't put themselves in the others' shoes. They proposed that everyone could compete without being jerks to each other.

On Day 90, MrBeast gave Ryan 100,000 pennies as the promised prize. The contestants compared it to his old subscriber-milestone penny stunts, and he mentioned the time he bought a car with pennies. They had now survived three months. MrBeast teased keeping them confined for weeks more, and the contestants admitted the videos were hard. He then faked an elimination before revealing the real reason for his visit. They could leave isolation and see the restored house if they promised not to destroy it. They pinky-promised. The renovated mansion included new touches such as a soccer field and a "wall of the fallen" for eliminated contestants. It was their first night outside isolation in 31 days.

Pierce's Graduation

The video had run long enough that Pierce missed their high school graduation. MrBeast contacted the principal and set up a surprise. Pierce got a cap and gown, and the school counselor appeared on the TV to witness MrBeast hand over Pierce's diploma. He noted that despite three months in the mansion, Pierce had passed high school. Pierce asked for the confetti-covered cake to be smashed in their face.

38:01

The Phone Challenge

Next came a 30-day phone game. MrBeast would call a phone at random times, and whoever answered got whatever he offered, which could be a gift or a punishment. The first real call set off frantic rock-paper-scissors. Ryan won and received $10,000, delivered in a briefcase by Majd. Another call ordered someone into a bathtub for 24 hours. Strategies split: some vowed never to answer, while one player said they would "definitely" answer again. On Day 99, as the group approached Day 100, MrBeast said a punishment didn't feel right and left pizza and cookies outside the door.

Then Kweli answered a call and was told to hand the phone to the person they trusted least. Kweli chose Asher. MrBeast offered Asher a deal: spend 24 hours in solitary confinement and Kweli would get $10,000. Kweli pointed out that the person they had argued with most now held that money in their hands. MrBeast framed it as a test of whether "the most selfish player in the game" would do something selfless.

Asher accepted. In solitary, Asher reflected that they might never build the deep relationships others had formed. They named Kweli, Ryan and Pierce as "brothers for real" and Kevin and Uthman as inseparable. They said they hoped to work on being trusted. Near the end, Kweli got another call with a choice. Kweli could let Asher finish the last hour and receive $10,000 alone, or swap in, reset the timer, and if Kweli completed 24 hours both would get $10,000. Asher said it was Kweli's decision. Kweli chose to swap. MrBeast said the challenge he thought would tear them apart brought them closer. After Kweli finished, Uthy took a call to release Kweli and collect a prize at the door. One contestant praised the group for not letting Jimmy divide them.

Not every call went well. A call answered by Kevin turned out to be from KSI. Because they had answered KSI's call, KSI's song "Thick of It" would play on loop through the speakers for 24 hours. Within eighteen minutes one contestant said their ears were bleeding. Another told KSI they'd give up the mansion rather than keep hearing the song, and sleeping through it was described as a nightmare. Later MrBeast rang the phone with a $50,000 prize waiting, and nobody answered.

What Kept the Final Six Going

As the video passed four months, the remaining six were Ryan, Kweli, Uthman, Pierce, Kevin and Asher. MrBeast said they had put their money where their mouth was. They explained their reasons for staying. One had moved house to house, been evicted and even been homeless, and felt they had to win after sacrificing so much. Another was spending their senior year of high school there. One said they had been told the video could last two or four years and had come prepared for that. Another said their family struggled financially and was counting on them.

Hand on the Mansion, with MrBeast as a Competitor

MrBeast said he wanted a challenge hard enough to actually make people leave, and that he would do something he had never done in his channel's history. The new rule was that whoever took their hand off the mansion last would keep it. The twist was that he put $600,000 in cash in front of them and offered to compete. Anyone who quit before him would get $100,000. If he quit first, the money was off the table, and if he outlasted everyone, he would keep the mansion. He needed at least three contestants to agree. All of them did, and one said it would be an honor to beat him. Hand cameras monitored every contestant.

The math put pressure on everyone. One player said they had started with nothing, so leaving with nothing meant losing nothing. Kweli, whose family had been homeless and slept in cars, found giving up the bigger prize "too crazy" at first. Others doubted MrBeast would last even 24 hours and didn't want to gamble. Ryan told Kweli, "If you roll, I roll." Pierce said that if two of their friends went, it would be time for them to go too. MrBeast reminded them that every drop raised the odds for the rest.

Ryan said the others were the reason they had stayed so long and took their hand off first, collecting $100,000. Two more followed, the friends who had pledged to leave together. The last one out declared MrBeast's challenges "officially… HARD" before stepping over the line. That left Asher, Uthy, Kevin and MrBeast.

The challenge made eating, washing hands and using the bathroom much harder, and sleeping was the biggest problem. MrBeast went to sleep first. He reasoned that if his hand came off, two contestants would go home with nothing, so they had an incentive to keep it in place. One contestant literally sat on his hand. Kevin's hand came off before his, so Kevin left with money and said they were glad to have met everyone. MrBeast then announced he would quit too, before even 24 hours had passed. That left only Asher and Uthy, with no cash prize remaining.

54:07

The Final Two

Uthy told Asher they were playing for their dad. Asher replied that it was an honorable cause, "but unfortunately, I'm not a sympathetic type." Asher stayed awake to avoid an accidental elimination. Uthy got several hours of sleep without ever removing their hand. When MrBeast returned, Asher had been awake more than 32 hours and couldn't remember the last hour. Asher finally slept with their hand jammed in a window, insisting they didn't move in their sleep. Asked how long their old job would have taken to buy such a house, the other finalist estimated more than twenty years, and called winning a life changer for their whole family. The finalists also noted how silent the house had become: fifteen people had arrived, and now there were two.

During a thunderstorm, MrBeast pulled Uthy aside, then showed Asher footage of their hand coming straight off. "It wasn't even close." Asher was eliminated. After 119 days, Uthy was the last contestant inside and received the deed to the mansion, bearing Uthy's name and MrBeast's signature. Of the fifteen people who swore they would never leave, MrBeast noted, Asher and Uthy were the only two who kept that promise until the end.
