Inside Daniela Avanzini's Everyday Routine: Korean Skin Care, Bronzer Blindness, and Faux Freckles
VogueIn this Vogue "Beauty Secrets" video, KATSEYE member Daniela Avanzini walks through a daily skin-care and makeup routine. Along the way, Daniela explains how joining the group changed their approach to beauty, why they deleted TikTok, and how their makeup compares with that of bandmate Yoonchae. The look on display starts from an unusual point: Daniela's eyebrows are currently bleached. "My eyebrows, as you can see, have left the chat," they say. "We're having a bleach brow moment right now."
A Minimal, Korean-Leaning Skin-Care Routine
Daniela opens with a confession: they don't use cleanser, and they jokingly ask viewers not to "come for" them over it. The routine begins with an Anua toner, and Daniela states flatly that "Korean skin care is the best skincare."
Next come eye patches, which Daniela uses because their under-eyes can get "really puffy." While the patches sit, Daniela does chores. Cleaning, they explain, is peaceful and "keeps me sane," and having a clean space helps them mentally. That habit continues through the whole routine. Daniela puts each product away after using it, saying they have to "clean as I go" or they'll "go nuts."
The final skin-care step is a moisturizer from Dr. G, which Daniela calls their "holy grail." They describe it as having a jelly-like texture and say it makes a good base under makeup.
How Daniela's Makeup Evolved
Before starting on makeup, Daniela looks back on how they learned it. Their mother did their makeup when they were young, especially for dance competitions. High school was roughly when Daniela started figuring out makeup on their own, but they say they were still working it out after high school and only got seriously into makeup "not that long ago."
Daniela credits KATSEYE with much of that change. Being on camera "literally all the time," they say, helps you see what you love. They also say they learned a lot from the other members, particularly about skin care. Daniela didn't know anything about Korean skin care before joining the group and calls discovering it "a game changer for sure."
Base: Foundation, Concealer, and a Hydrating Sponge Trick
After primer, Daniela applies Armani Luminous Silk foundation, mixing two shades on the back of the hand. This is a product Daniela uses on tour, and they say it stays on for an entire show.
The concealer is from Hourglass. Daniela believes they have used this specific concealer for their "whole entire KATSEYE career" and finds it very hydrating. Before blending, Daniela sprays a beauty blender with another Anua product. The point, they explain, is to keep the skin hydrated so it doesn't dry out as much.
Deleting TikTok and Dealing With Hate
While blending, Daniela mentions they deleted TikTok. They still use Instagram and watch Reels because they find them funny and because the content has nothing to do with KATSEYE, which Daniela says they need "a little bit." Daniela acknowledges that looking at comment sections isn't always good for them and suggests that's probably why they got rid of TikTok.
They don't dwell on it. "I feel like everybody gets a little bit of hate, you know? Like, who doesn't?" Daniela says, adding: "I feel like if you're iconic, you get hate. That's all I'm going to say."
Bronzer Blindness and Where to Place It
Daniela asks whether they have "blush blindness" and decides the real problem is "bronzer blindness." By their estimate, they apply bronzer about five times over the full routine, in both cream and powder form.
The first layer is a cream stick from Lys. Daniela says it has lasted "ridiculously long" and that they found it on TikTok. They like its shape and keep stressing how creamy it is. Daniela applies it high on the face, reacts with "Oh my god, that's so much," and tells viewers to "trust the process." Their reasoning for the placement is that bronzer lower on the face looks "a little muddy" on them, while placing it higher seems to lift the face. If they apply too much, Daniela sprays and blends it out.
As an aside, Daniela says they take the longest to get ready of anyone in the group, along with bandmate Lara. The two are the ones who are always late, which Daniela admits is "not a good problem to have."
Blush, Highlighter, and Why "My Face Eats Makeup"
Daniela finishes the cream products with a Makeup by Mario blush, tapped onto what they think are called the apples of the cheeks. At this point Daniela concedes they might have "a little bit of blush blindness too" and plans to reapply blush in powder form later.
Daniela's explanation is that their face "eats makeup," particularly blush and bronzer. They say they recently learned this happens because pores soak the product up. They also apply blush above the eyebrows, which they say gives a sun-kissed look, as if you'd just come back from the beach with a tan.
A Rare Beauty product goes on next. Daniela also likes a little highlighter, which they describe as "very ethereal" and giving "fairy vibes."
Nose Contour With Eye Shadow
For nose contour, Daniela uses eye shadow rather than a dedicated contour product. They think it lasts longer and allows more accurate placement. Using a cooler-toned shadow and the tip of a brush, Daniela starts low on the nose, works upward, and draws across. The brush, they say, lets them get exactly the shape they want. They then rub the shadow in with a finger, bringing it toward the eye and flicking it upward.
A Setting Powder From Before KATSEYE
The setting powder has a history. Daniela says they have had "this exact one" since the beginning of Dream Academy, the documentary process that came before KATSEYE existed. They apply it down the nose and in the inner corners of the eyes so that eyeliner placed there later won't smudge.
Daniela then repeats blush and bronzer, this time with powders. The next powder is from Dior. Daniela notes that most of these products are ones they use on show days. The main difference on those days is that a professional does their makeup, and Daniela says that means far more product gets used.
Benefit's Hoola bronzer is another "holy grail." Daniela calls it an "OG" that has been around a long time. This is the step where Daniela says things can get "a little scary," because they sometimes overdo it. The bronzer goes on the neck, chin, and jawline. Daniela then wipes off excess powder, sprays again, and applies their favorite highlighter, also from Benefit, to the tip and bridge of the nose.
The Siren Eye
Daniela's eye look starts with a jumbo pencil liner. Then comes what they warn "might get creepy": they use black eye shadow on an angled edge brush to create the inner corner and the wing. For mistakes, Daniela recommends "literally the smallest Q-tip" you own. After doing the outer wing, they look in the mirror and joke that the two eyes are "sisters," not twins.
Daniela owns two Makeup by Mario palettes, one cool-toned and one warm-toned. For under the eye, they choose a color from the warm palette because they think it makes their eyes pop, and apply it gently beneath the lower lash line.
The mascara is a drugstore Telescopic formula that Daniela says they have used since around high school, another "holy grail." They focus it on the outer lashes and brush them outward to complete what they call the "siren look."
Confidence on Stage and Music Before a Room
During the eye makeup, Daniela talks about how it feels to perform. They feel "so, so, so confident" on stage, as though they know exactly what they're doing, and sometimes feel like they "run the world." Music has a similar effect off stage. Walking into a room with "a banger" playing instantly changes Daniela's mood. They name Don Toliver as a recent good-vibe pick.
Opposite Styles: Daniela and Yoonchae
Daniela says their makeup is the complete opposite of Yoonchae's. Daniela wears a siren eye, while Yoonchae wears a doe eye, which Daniela says looks great on Yoonchae's face.
Daniela recalls Lara once doing Yoonchae's makeup with a bold dark eye and a bold lip. Yoonchae "looked like a baddie," Daniela says, and it was funny and surprising because the group had never seen Yoonchae in that kind of makeup before. In a similar story, Megan once did Daniela's makeup with a little eye shadow placed under the eye, a style Daniela had never worn. Daniela says it was strange to see on their own face but turned out "so cute."
Lips, Faux Freckles, and Beauty Marks
For lips, Daniela applies lip liner and then dabs a lip shade on top before spraying again.
The freckles come from a stamp-style tool. Daniela first says it has five dots, then corrects that to about ten, and says this makes it quick and easy. Their method is to place the freckles in the shape of the nose contour. Daniela notes that people usually put freckles across the bridge of the nose, but they concentrate on the tip, mirroring the contour. For beauty marks, Daniela uses a separate freckle pen. If they have a pimple, they turn it into a beauty mark.
Finishing Touches
Because the bleached brows are barely visible, Daniela only adds a small tail to each one, keeping them a little straighter. The last step is a One/Size setting spray, which Daniela says they use on tour and for shows and swears "is magic" because it keeps their makeup in place. With that, Daniela says they think they're done and thanks Vogue.
Hi Vogue. It's Daniela, and today I'm going to be showing you my skin care and my every single day makeup routine. My eyebrows, as you can see, have left the chat. We're having a bleached-brow moment right now.
I don't use cleanser, so don't come for me. I go in with this Anua toner. Guys, Korean skin care is the best skin care.
I do eye patches because of my eye bags. They can get really puffy. I'll just sit around with it for a little bit, do my chores. I have to clean. It's just very peaceful and it keeps me sane. And I think having a clean space definitely helps me up here.
This is actually my holy grail. This is my moisturizer, Dr. G. It's more of a jelly texture, and it's just a really good base to have under your makeup.
As I do my makeup and skin care, this is part of my cleaning process. I have to put it away. I have to clean as I go or else I'm actually going to go nuts. So, skin care is done. Now we're going to go into the fun stuff. First is primer.
My mom always did makeup for me when I was young, at dance competitions. I think in high school is kind of where I started to figure out my own makeup. I was still figuring it out after high school, but I think I really started getting into makeup, honestly, not that long ago.
I'm going to go in with my Armani foundation, Luminous Silk. I use her on tour. She's so good. She will stay on for a whole show. So I'll just mix two shades right here on my hand.
I definitely feel like my makeup has evolved ever since I joined KATSEYE. Being on camera literally all the time, you kind of just start to see what you love. I feel like I've learned a lot, especially about skin care with the girlies. Honestly, I didn't know anything about Korean skin care before coming into KATSEYE. Yeah, that was a game changer for sure.
I think I've been using this specific concealer my whole entire KATSEYE career, the Hourglass concealer. She is very hydrating, in my opinion.
I look crazy right now. I'm going to spray my beauty blender with another Anua product. So I'm just going to spray, and then spray on the end of this beauty blender. It kind of just keeps the skin hydrated and not dry out so much.
So, I deleted TikTok. I still have Instagram. I look at Instagram Reels because I think they're really funny and they have nothing to do with KATSEYE, which, you know, I need a little bit. It's not really good to look at the comment section sometimes, so that's probably why I deleted TikTok. I feel like everybody gets a little bit of hate, you know? Who doesn't? I don't know. I feel like if you're iconic, you get hate. That's all I'm going to say.
I don't have blush blindness. I have bronzer blindness. So I go in probably five times with bronzer, cream and powder, in my whole makeup routine. LYS, I love this stick. It's lasted me so ridiculously long. I actually found this on TikTok, and I kind of really like the shape. And guys, it's so creamy. It's insanely creamy.
I like to go kind of up here with it. Oh my God, that's so much. Just trust the process. I feel like I like the bronzer a little bit more on the top just because I feel like if I were to put it down here, it kind of looks a little muddy, in my opinion. And it kind of, I think, just lifts your face a little bit more. If I put too much on, I'll spray and I'll go in and I'll blend.
I think I take the longest to get ready, and Lara takes the longest. We're both the ones that are always late, which is not good. That's not a good problem to have.
I'm just going to finish with all the creamier products. I go in with my Makeup by Mario blush, and I'll kind of just tap it here. Kind of place it here on the apples, I think that's what it's called, of your cheek. Maybe I have a little bit of blush blindness too. I'm going to reapply blush, but with powder later.
My face eats makeup. It eats blush and bronzer, and I think that's why I have blush/bronzer blindness. I actually learned this the other day, but it's because your pores, all of your pores, they're literally right here and they soak it all up. I like to put blush above my eyebrows because it gives a sun-kissed, kind of like you just went to the beach and got a tan.
Then I go in with Rare Beauty. Dab a little bit there. And I personally love a little bit of highlighter. I think it's very ethereal, very much like a fairy, fairy vibes.
Next, I do nose contour. I actually use eyeshadow. I think it stays a little longer, and I think where you place it is more accurate. I'll just use kind of the tip of my brush, and I'll start down here. And I'm taking, obviously, a cooler-toned eyeshadow, this one specifically. And then I'll go here, and see, I feel like with the eyeshadow and the brush, you can really precisely get the shape that you want right here. And I go across. Trust the process. And then I kind of just rub it in with my finger. I kind of just bring it into my eye, and I flick it up like that.
Powder. I'm not even freaking kidding you. This exact one I've had since the beginning of Dream Academy, before KATSEYE even started, that whole documentary. I had this exact one during this whole process. And I'll go kind of down my nose. I'll get the inner corner because I'm going to need to put my eyeliner on there later, and I want to make sure it doesn't smudge.
Now is when I go in again with my blush and my bronzer and all of that. We're going to go in with powder. This time I'm going to use this Dior. Most of these products I use for show days. I think the only main difference—well, first I have a professional doing my makeup, so obviously it eats way more on show day.
This is also my holy grail, Hoola Benefit. Obviously, OG. She's been around for so long, and she's amazing. This is where it can get a little scary because I can overdo it sometimes. So I'll definitely hit my neck, my chin a little bit, and my jaw and down here. I'm just going to wipe the powder off.
And then I go in again with my spray. My favorite highlighter, also Benefit. And I like to put some on the tip of the nose and on the bridge of the nose. And whatever is left, I kind of just... Jumbo pencil liner. Okay, this might get creepy, but I have to...
I use black eyeshadow, and I use an edge brush, and that's how I get my inner corner and my wing. Okay, so I did my inner corner. Sometimes you mess up. You kind of just want to grab the smallest Q-tip that you have. Literally the smallest Q-tip, and kind of clean it up. And now I'm just going to quickly do my outer wing.
So, they're sisters, okay? They're not twins. I have another eyeshadow palette. Two Mario ones. One is cool-toned, one is warm-toned. I'll take the warm-toned one, and I'll go in with this color down here. I really like this color because I think it makes my eyes pop. And so I'll kind of just gently go under the eye a little bit.
I feel so, so, so confident when I go on stage. I just feel like I know what I'm doing, and I feel like sometimes I just run the world, and it's such an amazing feeling. Also, when I'm listening to music and I'm walking into a room, if I have a banger on, that instantly changes my mood. I feel like Don Toliver recently, it's been a good vibe.
Also, holy grail, also have been using since, I think, high school: Telescopic, literally drugstore mascara. So I kind of just go like this on the ends. I'll brush it kind of more out for that siren look.
I feel like I have the complete opposite makeup as Yoonchae. First of all, Yoonchae doesn't do a siren eye. She does the opposite. She does a doe eye. It looks so good on her face. I remember one time Lara, she did Yoonchae's makeup, and she did a really bold, dark eye, big bold lip on Yoonchae, and Yoonchae looked like a baddie. It was so funny. But it was just crazy because we've never seen her in that makeup before.
Megan one time did my makeup, and she did an aegyo-sal on my... where you kind of put a little bit of eyeshadow down here. And it was just crazy to see that on my face because I have never done that, but Megan wanted to do it for fun, and it was actually so cute. Lip liner.
I go in with my lip shade here, and I kind of just dab it. Okay, we're going with this spray again.
This has five—no, literally has 10 dots on it. So it is so easy and so fast. You kind of want to do the freckles in the shape of your nose contour. So people usually do it over the bridge. I go right here on the tip. I'll basically just mimic my nose contour, but with the freckles. And then for beauty marks, I like to go in with this other freck pen that I have. If I have a pimple or something, I'll turn it into a beauty mark.
Okay, so since I have no eyebrows, all I'll really do is kind of just add a little tail. I like to make them a little straighter.
ONE/SIZE. This stuff, I swear, is magic. I use it on tour. I use it for my shows. It makes my makeup stay.
I think I'm done. Thank you so much to Vogue. I love you guys, and thanks for watching.
